HIV medication is rarely criticized for the harmful side effects associated with it. It is a fact that since 2002 the leading cause of death in HIV+ persons was no longer AIDS, but adverse reactions from the HIV medications.
Some people might conclude this is because the drugs are extending these HIV+ people's lives, however that is not the case. There has been no decrease in mortality since these meds have been made available.
The establishment is well aware of the adverse side effects from these drugs. They even have annual conferences about this very subject.
