When asked to describe herself Rosario Dawson replies ‘I am an actress, a producer, a philanthropist, an environmentalist and a bad-ass chick’. Clearly, she is a woman of many talents.
The Lower East Side Girls Club is a cause that is close to Rosario’s heart. The obvious reason being that she grew up in that neighbourhood, another was because her aunt and peers were already involved and finally, the number of teenage pregnancies and latch-key kids is alarming.
Rosario talks about dealing with the pressures of being discovered so young and wanting to make the most of the opportunity that had suddenly presented itself.
Rosario Dawson opens her heart and tells t5m about some of the moments which have changed her life and her perspective. ‘It’s watching my godson’s birth, from my friend who’d I known since I was 11 years old…suddenly I felt, on a higher degree, I have to be very successful. I have to take care of things because of the next eighteen years, of that kid’s life, I’m going to be there whether he wants it or not.’
