Welcome back to this special year-end episode of Inside Music Row.  The Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America has over 40 chapters across the United States, with each hosting its own events and fundraisers to battle the diseases.  The Tennessee chapter held their annual Buds and Suds event this Fall, which was headlined by Randy Houser and James Otto.

 As 2009 is coming quickly to a close, we thought we’d take a look back at some of our top stories from the year.  We’ll begin with a celebration honoring Vince Gill at the Loveless Barn here in Nashville, where the Grammy Awards held their ‘Salute to Country Music. The Grammy organization really does it up right.  Don’t forget to tune into the 52nd annual Grammy Awards Sunday, January 31 live from the Staples Center on CBS.

The Radio City Christmas Spectacular featuring the Rockettes is taking the show on the road, visiting 37 cities in North America, in addition to their normal New York City shows.  We had a chance to preview the show here in Nashville at the Opry House. Tracy Lawrence was pretty excited for his fourth annual Mission Possible turkey fry.  Tracy enjoys doing this benefit to raise money and awareness, as well as a hot Thanksgiving meal for people at the Nashville Rescue Mission.  As always…you never know who will show up to help. In the first three years of this event, Tracy and his friends have donated almost five thousand turkeys, 84-thousand dollars worth in meals, and more than 100-thousand dollars in cash for the mission.  After this year’s event, those numbers are sure go much higher.

Jessie James first hit the music scene as a pop artist, even opening up for the Jonas Brothers on their world tour this summer.  Now she’s found herself in the country genre, and things seem to be taking off for her.

Joe Nichols has had his share of ups and downs in the music business.  Since launching his highly successful ‘Man With A Memory’ disc in 2002 on Universal South, he’s had a few number one hits as well as a stint in rehab.  Now he’s very candid about the experiences, so check out how he’s doing with the release of his sixth album ‘Old Things New.’ Joe decided to give fans a new twist on an old hit for this album.  He asked country rapper Colt Ford to remix his number one hit ‘Tequila Makes Her Clothes Fall Off’ and that mix is now a bonus track on the disc.  The song has also been shipped to 250 dance clubs nationwide

Being inducted into the Hall of Fame is an incredible honor, and shows the world that you’ve made a great impression on the world with your works.  The Musicians Hall of Fame held their Medallion Ceremony this year in downtown Nashville. The Musicians Hall of Fame is the one and only museum in the world that honors the talented musicians who played on the greatest recordings of all time.  It’s located just off Broadway in downtown Nashville, and would make an ideal stop on your next trip to Music City.

It’s a special day for songwriters when their hard work pays off with a number one hit.  Liz Rose Co-wrote ‘You Belong With Me’ with teen sensation Taylor Swift, and it didn’t take long for that song to reach the top of the charts.  Kelly Lynn was there to celebrate.

Steve Wariner is pretty excited about his latest album.  ‘Steve Wariner…C-G-P, My Tribute to Chet Atkins’ is just that.  Steve is just one of a handful of people that have had the C-G-P acronym bestowed upon them from Chet himself, as a Certified Guitar Picker. The new album from Steve is now available through his website, and will hit store shelves Tuesday.

Adroit Records recently made an incredible album of hits, recorded by their original songwriters.  Their emphasis on writing and the true art of a song has been refreshing in the business today.  The new label is also making a community contribution with a benefit concert to raise money for a family to fight A-L-S, more commonly known as Lou Gehrig’s disease.

The Nashville Music Garden took root in the Hall of Fame Park, located at the corner of Fourth Avenue and Demonbreun downtown.  On hand for the public dedication were hosts Barbara Mandrell and Lynn Anderson, as well as emcee Ralph Emery and countless others, where dozens of celebrities have specially created hybrid roses named after them or their songs.

The IBMA Awards Show is the centerpiece of the World of Bluegrass Week, including the industry’s business conference and bluegrass fan fest in Nashville. The International Bluegrass Association held their twentieth annual awards show at the Ryman Auditorium, and the clear winners were again Dailey and Vincent, winning their second consecutive IBMA Entertainer of the Year award among others.

The Ultimate Nashville Road Trip was put together by Nashville's own Production Dynamics, and was available for only a short time through Sam's Club. Up for grabs was a trip for four to Music City with luxury accommodations and tickets to some great CMA MusicFest shows and VIP Passes. Won by Richard Mack... this former rocker also received several studio sessions, where his tracks were produced by Michael Peterson and Ric Web. Truly a once in a lifetime opportunity, Kelly caught up with Mack in the studio and check in on him a few times during CMA week in Nashville.
