As we do every week, we accompany viewers on their trips through Germany. This time we explore Brandenburg's Spreewald region with Sarah McMath and Lutz Kruger from South Africa. Sarah McMath and Lutz Kruger have lived in Cape Town for 23 years. She's American, he's originally from Germany. Both love riding motorcycles and have decided to cross Germany on two wheels from north to south. In the Spreewald segment they visited Lübben, the region's biggest city, the thousand-year-old village of Schlepzig and its beautiful church, and in the open-air museum in Lehde they gained some insights into the Slavic Sorb minority in the 19th century.
Ingo and Mary Werk from Los Angeles aren't in Germany to see the usual tourist sights such as churches and castles - they're here to see some cars. Their first stop is the Mercedes Benz Museum, where they admire a collection of vintage wheels before heading off to the Porsche Museum which opened in January 2009. Mary remembers her first VW Beetle, while Ingo stretches his legs in a Porsche 356.
A school exchange program brought German teacher Michael Atkinson from Melbourne, Australia, to Bremen. His students gave him some time off to take the Discover Germany team around the old city on the Weser River. Michael Atkinson starts with the famous statue of the Bremen Town Musicians, an animal quartet. He travels through the oldest part of Bremen through to see science in action at the Universum Bremen before sitting down for a bite to eat with a North German specialty, Labskaus.
